Many have attempted to design and implement solution-based
programs to combat the rising concerns with America’s health care, but few
have delivered as much in so little a time as the demonstration project called
SimpleCare.
SimpleCare is the brainchild of two practicing
board-certified family physicians caught in the throws of managed care and
health care reform. Both have been
instrumental in implementing a patient-doctor designed, common-sense solution to
the current ills of the health care system.
“Doctors and patients should be the agents of change,” states
founders Vern S. Cherewatenko, MD an David C. MacDonald, DO, who will be
featured speakers at the Denver Medical Society on Tuesday, September 26th
from 6-9pm at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center, Colorado Room at 1719 E
19th Avenue in Midtown-Denver.
SimpleCare is the first of several programs promoted by the
American Association of Patients and Providers (AAPP).
The AAPP is a national non-profit association of patients and health care
providers from all aspects of the health care system who are implementing a very
simple approach to health care; “Pay in full at the time of service and we
will charge you our best price.”
Beaten down by insurance contracts, many physicians and
allied health care providers are on the brink of bankruptcy.
Price Waterhouse Coopers estimates that 90% of the major provider groups
in California are insolvent and the state is heading for a disaster.
Denver physicians are equally concerned as the entire country is facing
devastation in the health care arena.
SimpleCare has been highlighted by over 150 news
publications across the nation, including several radio and TV programs such as
NBC News, PBS and others. The AAPP
was created to design and implement logical solutions that decreased cost and
improved access to health care that were center on solidifying the sacred
doctor-patient relationship. It has
proven to be better than ever imagined, according to its founders, with patients
and doctors eager to join the non-profit group and further its vision.
SimpleCare is receiving requests from patient groups, government groups,
medial associations, hospitals, provider groups, major cities and small to large
businesses to provide them the template for the insurance combined with a
personal savings account for out of pocket expenses.
The doctors will be available for one hour (5-6pm) prior to
the seminar for media questions and answers.
